transom repair or replace

Hi I have inherited a 16' 1987 Dixie (thats what the registration says) Open bow.It says Malibu on the side of the boat but I'm not sure if that's who made it. I need to replace or repair the transom. I'm not sure how to go about it. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Welcome to the Dry Dock,

I'd suggest some serious reading first, there are tons of transom replacement threads here. Just do a search for transom repair. After hours of reading, then post back some more specific questions.

Not trying to give you a short answer here, just that most all you need to know is alread here.

We're here to help with anything that comes up and there is nothing you'll run into that's hasn't been handled here before.

i second the answer above......

ill give you the short of it....

motor off.....
cap off
wood off
build new one
install
glass it in
re assemble.
40 - 80 hrs for a first timer.
20 hrs or less for a pro.
