Transom saver needed for a 11km(7 mile) trip?

After seeing some new transom saver threads, it got me wondering
Do I/should I be using a transom saver (TS)? My boat only does 2 trips a year, pick up boat from the dealer in the spring and return it in the fall, which is only 11kms(7 miles approx) on a smooth paved road mostly then about 1 km into our trailer on a somewhat bumpy gravel road?

My boat is an 06 Lowe F&S with an 07 90 Merc 4 stroke(450-480lbs)
If so, which TS does everyone recommend? One like Wee Hooker chose in this post? Thanks in advance...............Irv964

I use a transom saver on my big outboard because the boat is tightly secured to the trailer and it can't bounce causing the TS to do more harm than good.

I don't use a TS on my jon boat for just the opposite reasons listed above.

I don't use a TS on my I/O. I use strut stays instead. They are the little red plastic sleeves that snap on over the trim cylinders and keep it from bleeding down while trailering.

I won't pull out of my driveway without one.

I use the Panther TS.

Transom Saver is really cheap insurance, especially on that last km.

Get one of these! You won't regret it. I had the same issue and this is what I got. Once you mount the bracket, it goes on and off with a half twist. No bungee on the bottom end, just bungee it to the motor leg on the top. Lower the motor until it rests on the saver.

Thanks for the info guy's, I remember reading some huge posts on TS's and some were for them and some were against them for various reasons?
I never did come out of those with a better understanding, just more confusion actually but it was some interesting reading

I always use mine. Probably don't take much bouncing from a 90 to crack a weld.

I use a Swivl-eze for a 115 and it's on whenever boat is on the trailer. Cost $40 or so and takes a minute to pull off at launch at put on at retrieve.

Thanks guy's, I will check with my dealer this spring and see what he has and recomends for my application?
I have a feeling I will be purchasing one from iboats though, his prices can be a little on the high side

With my above post with regards to what I read before about TS's, I remember reading that with the boat in the water, on take off, puts a lot more stress on a transom then any trailering will ever do? That and a bunch of other things I read about the pro's and con's made me just continue on with what I was doing, being as it was only a 11km trip 2 twice a year....Irv964
