I have a 110 hp evinrude with power tilt trim. I put on a "motor saver" bracket by Panther. Made it to the lake just fine, returned home to find the motor saver busted. The "Y" part that the lower unit rests on was split. Apparently the lower unit split it like a wedge going into firewood. Is this just a fluke? Is the leading edge of the lower unit supposed to rest on the piece of rubber at the bottom of the "Y"? Or does the lower unit rest above that, supported by the two pivoting arms? Did I not put enough weight on the unit?
If the leading edge of the lower unit is supposed to rest on the rubber at the bottom of the "y" I will have to remove the pivoting arms and that don't sound right to me. Please help

Re: Transom saver

I had the same problem with my 90hp Merc. It took a few trips to the lake and back, but the transom saver I was using didn't last long either. Since then I've been towing without one because I have a barge, but I think you and I just need to look for one with a wider cradle, maybe even U-shaped.
