Re: transom that is bowed

i take it the 'curve' is suppose to be there..??

1/4 marine ply..

an a temporary centre bending jig wood..2 x4/2x6/ply scrap/whatever..

shape an atttach jig first before transom removale as so to see shape is right..

then install new 1/4 ply transom.. epoxy glue/laminate another 1/4 ply on top of that one.. then another an so on till the thickness is right..

Sounds like Crabby's solution is a good one.

Re: transom that is bowed

Some Glaspars had bowed transoms and others flat. If it is bowed from rot you can remove the old wood and flex the boat sides out to regain the original straight transom shape. It's easy to wedge a 2x4 across the hull to do it.
