i have a 84 malibu ski boat 305 i/o omc stringer. the question that i have is the thickness of the transom. i had a 1/2 rotted transom so i removed the whole thing. when i measured it the ply was 3/4 thick. does that seem right? it looks like nothing but the swim steps and the rubber boot/gasket for the out drive mount to the transom. if thats not right what should i replace it with? the transom has never been removed/replaced until i cut it out. thanks again for the help

Re: transom thickness

When I rebuilt my glastron I used 2 pieces of 3/4 ply laminated together.

Re: transom thickness

You can re-construct the transom using the old dimension as the minimum and make it as thick as you like as long as you can assemble it again.

Most people duplicate what "was" there and use better materials w/o problems. Epoxy sealed and cloth coated will be much stronger than original.
