I thought I read somewhere, that you can convert a transom mount transducer to an in hull transducer. I believe it was using PVC pipes and baby oil. I've tried searching on this, but haven't been able to find that thread. Any one have any ideas on how to do this.

Thanks

Re: Transom Transducer to In Hull

It all depends on the type of hull you have. Yes you can shoot thru a solid fiberglass hull. Most common way is to use a puck trpe transducer and epoxie it to the hull.

If the hull is wood, or aluminum, it will not work. If the hull is fiberglass with a wood or foam core then it will not work unless you cut thur the wood or foam to get down to solid fiberglass.

If your hull is solid fiberglass and before you epoxie the transducer down you want to check weather it will work good in a location then you can build a dam of some sort to put the transducer in and fill area with water. You can use a piece of pvc pipe or some clay. Water works better than oil and when you find your spot will be less work to get epoxie to stick.
