transom vs bow mount

Help a rookie out. What are the pros and cons of a bow vs. transom mount electric trolling motor? I need a trolling motor for a 16' Polarcraft mod-v jon. How many lbs. do I need?

Since you probably only want one battery, why not get the 55lb, bow mount.
