I removed the two drain tubes from my transom so that I could remove it for replacement. I just looked on the iboats Marine Store and found drain tubes. Good so far - now the question. The drain tubes are flared on one end - how do I flare the other end?

Thanks

Re: Transom Well Drain Tube

I just removed the transom from my project boat and it looked as if the drain tubes were just pressed in and a little silicone added to prevent water intrusion. They were only flared on one side and the tight fit/ compression/ silicone held them in place.

You can use two ball peen hammers to flare tubing.

Mine were sealed in (silicone?) and flared on both sides of the transom.

I will try the ball peen hammer.

Thanks

I used two thru hull 3/4" connectors
Just cut off the "hose end" that protruded
They were flared on both ends

There is actually a special tool that you use. I borrowed my from the marine place that I bought the tube from. I just had to leave them a deposit. This was quite a few years ago but the tool had two fitting on it to flare the tube with a piece of allthread between them to compress the two.
