so my transome has a few soft spots in it and I need to get going of a fix , ????? am I in over my head ?? ANy good sites or books I should read ?? Does the top of the hull come off ???? <br />BTW I have a 16 ft double eagle <br /><br />any help or advice would be great <br /><br />JAmie jamiesather@shaw.ca

Use the search feature here. ready every article you can.<br /><br />When you're done that, find every "shareproject" link in anyone's signature or follow one and navigate to the boat topic and look at all of the photos of boat rebuild projects there.<br /><br />Then buy the west system guide for fibreglass boat repair, regardless of whether you're going to use fibreglass or expoxy. Most of the prep. info is pretty universal.

go to v-20.com it's the site for the Wellcraft V-20 Step Hulls they are one of the all time classic center console boat and they famous for rotting tramsoms and you will be hard pressed to find one with a original tramson there is many tramson repair threads there.My V-20 when I bought mine the repair was already done with Sea-Cast..........

Get a couple of quotes from a few marine repair shops and decide then if you are in over your head. I agree with everyone so far, there is enough information out there on how to do it. I myself had fun converting our little boat and I do not consider myself that skillful with tools but it came out great. Mike
