I've got an older bowrider, the plywood in the transom is rotton. I'm going to pull the top off the boat and replace the plywood, however it looks like it's not a ply core, it appears that the ply is just attached to the outside fiberglass with no fiberglass retaining it on the inside. Is this correct? I looked at another hull today that was for sale locally, but it also had the same set up, it was an 85 caravelle bowrider. Any info would be helpful.

Tell us what brand & model, also if you got some pictures. You would be surprised on some of the lower end boat what can get left exposed during the manufacturing process. do you know any history of the boat?
