Transome extension questions

I have a 1983 Dixie cc. I would like to extend the hull a total of 4ft. Of the 4ft 2ft would be a eurostyle transom. I am thinking of making a cardboard template of transom then transfer to plywood. Then build a wooden jig and glass over. I would like to know what to cover the wood with for easy glass removal. Some people have told me to cover the wood with formica then wax and spray releasing compound. I have to replace the stringers and transom, I would like to make it the way I want it. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Thanks, I have read the thread by Oops several times and gained alot of knowledge and ambition to work on my boat. I have to say that this thread was probably the most informative I have read for my project. I have never heard of a hull extension until reading this thread.

I would not do that,

add on to the existing hull, don't cut what you have.
Theres a couple of very well done examples,
heres a really neat way and its so much easier.

If you need a bigger boat go buy one. oops! will NEVER take a chainsaw to a hull again. Believe me,his 5footitis has been cured. If you don't believe me PM him yourself. It is a very big job and for a rookie to try it you are way better off to spend the money on a new boat.

good advise, thats what I'd do, prices often drop for bigger hulls, especially if they need power.
