on my 82 sportcraft ive noticed that there is some small cracks on the floor at the transome directly under the outboard and on the self draining holes. i did the tap test to see if my transome was rotted and did the drill test and it all appears to be solid. do you think mybe the weight of the outboard over the years might have created stress cracks between the floor and the transome? im new to boating and reading some of the stuff on the fourms about this is giving me nightmares... is my best bet to just put some layers of fiberglass over the cracks to seal them? there are also some small cracks in the floor in other areas of the boat but the floor is solid also.

thanks for anyhelp in advance

(this post was origanly in the Boat Restoration and Building fourm but i moved it here)

Re: Transome question

Your description fits either stress or spider cracks. They are not usually a big deal - - best to keep an eye on them though and if they get worse - - - - - -
