Last time we talked you were very adament
I don't think I'm anywhere near as adament about anything, (in politics), as you are Skinny.
about the Republicans looking out for our interests in the form of compromise, superior politics and now "a little more logical" positions.
Skinny, I never said: "the Republicans looking out for our interests". It would be a HUGE stretch to even infer that I said that, as you need to stick to readin' my specific words and quit tryin' ta read my mind, as you surely can not. I never mentioned "superior politics" attributed to one or another party either, although it is safe to infer that I most frequently dissagree with Democrats. As to "compromise", and "a little more logical" positions, I have uttered those words but you seem to totally miss the context that I stated at the time.
Based on those arguements you would have been happy with the "compromises" the bill had two weeks ago and would have accepted it's passage as is.
NOT TRUE. Skinny, you do not know me. You only know what I choose to post here on iboats, and you don't have even the faintest clue as to what makes me "happy" or unhappy. I don't know you either, but I surely sense that you don't tolerate any "compromise" what so ever. I totally reject your attempt to characterize my posititons, as my positions are mine to define not yours.
Not only that, but shame on the Conservative for daring to speak out against a Republican. You compared it to "cannabalism".
Skinny, I'm not a Republican, I do apologize for PREVIOUSLY thinking that you and I shared similar views, (I clearly can't read minds either). I see now that we are off 180 degrees on just about everything. I know that I am a Cornservative, (I can't tell what you are); I also know that many here on iboats are more Cornservative then I am. Eric, (Plainsman) thinks I am a wimp for stayin' Independent, but that is how I have decided works best for me.
Forget the immigration aspect of this. Forget the merits of this bill from either side. Forget the entire content of this bill.
CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU THINK I WANT: this issue, (immigration), needs to be debated in the open in GREAT DETAIL, and is not finished yet, (so I shall reserve judgement). It is not my style to take a polar position early on something as big and important as this. I definately want border security, and to stop the flow of illegals into the Country. You seem to prefer a rigid no compromise approach to important issues that I do not.
The only important aspects of this bill at present is that it represents an illegal foreign identity in minority over a sovereign nation and the will of it's citizens.
If the present situation were against "the will of it's citizens", it would not exist. I do not believe this just happened by magic Skinny.
Current law, oaths of office, Constitutional responsibility, and more important the very fabric and conscience of these core issues are assaulted.
THE PASSAGE OF THIS BILL WILL BE THE BIRTH OF A NEW NATION.
How do you know the final language of the bill? I also think this is a big deal Skinny, it may totally change our nation, (as the Democrats seem to want), if we let it, (which we likely will not). The deal is not done: yet.
Legislation of this type was done in the recent past by midnight votes and hidden in other legislation. It has now evolved to extreme arrogance and completely in your face.
With your seemingly rigid outlook, I can see that you feel that way. Most significant bills, like this one, are in fact debated in the open; (congressional pay raises tend to get done by midnight votes). I don't like the "earmark carp" either, in fact it bugs me that most people in congress do not read the bills they vote on.
Where a number of us have been desensitised by shameless politicians in the recent past. This is an example of what it has become and where we are headed.
