Tri-toon extended transom

Can anyone offer advice regarding an extended transom mount like the one pictured? I'm concerned about trailering this, if I leave the motor down it may make contact with the road (dips or speed bumps). If I raise the motor it seems like it would put a lot of strain on the transom without a support bar and I don't see a good way of adding one.
Thanks,

Definitely don't trailer with the engine down. Both the transon and engine are built to take the forces of trailering with the engine up. The engine should have a trailer mode. I would however turn the engine all the way to one side so it doesn't do it on it's own while traveling. If the road is very bumpy just slow down.

To clarify, you want to buy a boat like this or you want to do this to an exsiting pontoon?

I agree you would want to trailer with the engine up, both for weight and to not damage the engine, wiht ti up all the weioght is above the transom so the force is vertical, with it down it is horizontal.

The transom on that boat seems really light, normally center transoms are super beefy with ots and lots of metal, just doesn't seem to be alot to that one.

If you are wanting to add one to an exsiting boat that tube is going to run you close to 2K and unless you are master level fabricator I wouldn't attempt to make one yourself

This is EXACTLY what I have. And believe me, it's BEEFY. That's all seriously heavy aluminum, and the actual transom is an aluminum box - not just a sheet.

I install my transom support on the motor, and it attaches to the bottom of the "toon" - look closely, and you'll see an opening at the bootom of the transom. That's where I mounted the bracket for the motor support. I'll take a pic, and attach it.

Re: Tri-toon extended transom

Thanks for all of the replies, this is a new 24' Tahoe FNF I'm taking delivery in about 2 weeks. The picture is from the dealer as they were rigging it. It's a tri-toon with a 27" center log. I like the looks of BobGinO's solution, can you tell me more about it? Did you install it or was it from the dealer? If it's your install please share...Not much info out there on Tahoe's...
Thanks,

Bob, not saying that sin't good one, just looked like there should be more to it.

I am used to looking at ours at Bennington, it is more or less like that but we have 1/4'' splash wells down the sides, braces at the front and our backboards go the entire circumference of the tube, there is a hundred ways to do someithing.

Thanks,

Yeah, I did it myself. Picked up the motor support at Bass Pro Shop. When I looked at putting the end on the trailer, I didn't really have a good place to put it. So, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the transom/center tube extension (I think it was a 1/4" bolt they provide). That metal is 1/4 thick, I think. Plenty thick enough to support the motor. The gap under the transom makes this a no-brainer. The bolt on the little u-shaped piece that the support clips into, extends about 1/4" below the bottom of the metal.
