Re: Trickle charger

The boat is stored in the garage and the charger would only be used in the garage when not in use. My initial thoughts were to put the charger in the boat(not mounted, just laying there). The literature states that the charger is sonicly sealed to prevent issues with gas, oil and water. But in another section it warns to use in a ventilated area, which I realize after reading posts and lit that the engine compartment is not!
What about keeping the charger outside of the boat, like on the swim step, and then running longer leads to the btry?

Re: Trickle charger

Fumes from gasoline typically do not rise above 18" from the floor (in this case your deck or bilge). That's a fact for you to digest as you please. However, it is the reason why a gas water heater in a garage must be on a 18" platform to comply with Building Codes.

I suspect that the gases that are being to referred to by your manual are the hydrogen gasses that can be produced (typically during an overcharge) by a battery.

It is doubtful that you will be producing an explosive amount of Hydrogen during trickle charge or with a good charger like you seem to have. A small fan can be used if you're uneasy about it.
