Re: Tricks to Compounding a Hull?

I dont know why you are taking offense to my comment but, if there is something that I can do to make my boat look like new with minimal effort, count me in. After all, What little spare time I have I would rather not spend in working on my boat. I try to do things the correct way within reason if possible. But if buffing was not an option, You bet I would be buying some vaseline.
Offense? Nah. Just for ha-has, I tried Vaseline on a small section of my hull last July. Not showroom shiny, but it looked vastly better and still does. I can live with that. Now, 25thmustangs boat, that's a gorgeous job!

So, This is not good enough? This was only 1/2 way through the job, I still needed to do some more, plus the windshield frame, deck fittings, & upholstery.

As I said, you apply it, let it stay on till it looks DRY, then just wipe off the salt, the dirt, & the chalky oxidation. A badly neglected boat would need a few applications.

Had pretty good results on a neglected 1984 boat.

You got those results from Buff Magic?....... FWIW I tried vaseline, and it did do wonders on the blue gelcoat, just didnt do much for the white.

Buff Magic followed up with Pro Polish. Done with a DA and rotary buffer. Boat sat on land for a few years and no idea how long before that was the last wax or polish. I was happy with the results.
