trim and tilt 175 1975 mercury

I have a 1977 175 and the trim is slow to go up and goes down as soon as you let go of the up button.Changed one of the lift cylinders cleaned the valve assembly.Pump spins fine up and down.Seams to be no loss of oil.On board pump and res.what can be my problem??

It is closed.I think I need to find a pump an res. where should I start looking?

i had same problem almost identical ob i looked for over 2 months on internet (mine bled down so slowly my boat was still usuable) i finally lucked out 2 days ago local marina that i have a good relationship with had one on a junk boat in their bone yard i did the uninstall and he sold it to me for $10 i of course bought it "as is" no return i installed it found it had one bad solenoid but now works perfect might check your local marina bone yards i don't know if these pump/valve bodies are rebuildable but now that i have a spare i'm going to try

I think those motor/resevoir assemblies are avail aftermarket. There are at least two kinds. I think you want the one with the armature that is about even with the lower lip of the upper resevoir. The other kind has a shorter armature, and won't engage your pump. There may be a adaptor, but I never was able to find out.

Get the part number a match it to the ARCO or other replacement.

BTW - you will need to reuse the control valve, pump base, lines and cylinders.
