My 2017 150 Merc goes down but not up. I tried swapping relays around to no avail.
I determined the top of four relays is the down one. The second one down I believe is the up one. I see battery and ground on two contacts in the top relay holder but no current in the second one on the same two contacts. I took it a step further, I see battery on one contact but no ground on the other same contact. I tried making a temporary jumper ground to the contact with a small piece of wire. Now, I at least hear the contact activate and click when I hit the up button right there on the motor. Both switches, the one on the throttle and the locale right on the motor do the same thing so I ruled out a bad switch.
You would think if I got the relay to click this would have fixed it tempoarily?
When they originally mounted the engine on the transom, they used a long stainless steel bolt which they installed from the inside out. This long bolt blocks me from turning the plastic hydraulic relief to lift the engine. That's another problem, just a pain in the ass to deal with along with raising this 465lbs beast..!
Right now the skeg is in the dirt as the motor is stuck in the down position. If I can't fix this, I'll have to lift the motor so I can tow the boat somewhere.
GRRR...
Any ideas??
