hi i have a problem with my 1997 evirude 60 trim and tilt system. i was using the boat the other day and everything was working fine. then when i came to the shore i couldn't raise the motor. the trim never made a noise and the thing didn't moved - locked down. i took the cover off to see if there was somethig i could see and all i could here when i pressed the trim button was the relay switch making a noise thats it.
i had no previous problems with it. the motor kept working fine but the trim and tilt wasn't making a sound.
please help thanks

Re: trim and tilt problem

most likely cause is a failed relay
take off cover and switch them around...problem should switch
if it does change one relay at a time until it works.

Re: trim and tilt problem

Unlikely but not impossible.
You can pop the relay open and check the solder joints, they fail from vibration, I've soldered a few in my volvo. You can also jump them with a bit of wire,
test for v at the relay plugs.
Tilt switches are ...flimsy.:)

Re: trim and tilt problem

Apply 12v to the pump motor, it should work or its a gonner.

If it work then backtrack through the wiring, don't be surprised if the problem is the tilt switch on the throttle, rather flimsy things.
