Trim angle and propeller slip.... I have some questions

I have been setting up my boats trim control module and sender from scratch. And i have a few questions.
- Does the angle that the DP-C1 drives (5 degrees) only mean that far above zero for max tilt before hitting beach range? In other words that is the max angle that the boat should run at top speed? Because i usually just keep trimming up until he propeller starts to slip. I attempted to measure my transom angle on level ground and got it at 15 degrees. Then the chart told me that i would trim the motor up untill there is 2" of lift ram shaft exposed, that would be 5 degrees supposedly. Is that right?

- Some manuals tell me to set my max trim angle (5 degrees) for the center mark on the trim gauge. Others say set it for the 3/4 mark. I was thinking if i set it between the two, say 5/8 for (5 degree), the 3/4 mark would be near my slip out, and then the last 1/4 would be beach range for less than 1000rpm

Lets start there.

Thank you,

Kyle

Well Kyle i dont put that much into my trim on my boat. I adjust it to the following. Dont have a gauge and adjust to the seat of my pants.
1. Water conditions - Less chop more trim = boat goes faster. More chop less trim to maintain boat control.
2. Desirer speed at that time - try to maintain my OPTIUM RPM'S at that speed.
3. When the bow of the boat comes down and the handling of the boat does not scare me - Im good at that trim level. If it starts bouncing around i trim down just alittle to keep control of the boat.

Just my point of veiw.

Just reread your post and you must have some fancy trim controler?

Sorry, that i didnt clarify better. I can feel and tell what the boat wants to be the most efficient at any speed. Including top speed. My celebrity has different trim setup where it has a different pair of buttons for trim, and tilt. The trim range is from the bottom to 5 degrees above zero apparently. The trim up button quits working at 5 degrees past zero. Then you have the tilt buttons which are meant for beach/and trailer to take you the rest of the way up.

I know my old boats didnt have this, but this celebrity does, and i would like it to work like its supposed to as far as limiting me from damaging my u joints. My previous boat was a Alpha 1 with a 3.0 and no limits. And before that was a 150hp evenrude out board, no limits there.

Really i think the answer to my question is that at max speed. Because at any cruising speed i can trim up to the limit. I can always tilt up farther till the boat is happy. I assumed that my new boat that is more complex than my old boats is a common thing. I may be wrong.

I m not too fimilar with the volvo set up but i would think its about the same as the Alpha unit, In that the trim has a limit so you do not blow your u-joints at speed. So at that 5 deg past zero is its max trim limit. Id say you could bump it up a tiny bit with the trailer button but i would think thats not the way it was designed. You might go with some adjustable trim tabs. Im sure the Volvo guys will check in on this.

Sorry i could not help - Good Luck!
