Trim Control

I have a 1988 Celebrity with the 5.? V8 Merc drive. On the throttle control the trim switch use to have two options, one for trailering and one for motoring. Now it only works in the trailering position. This isnt a big deal since I can still raise the trim but it was nice so a person couldnt trim to high in the water. Do you think it is a bad switch in the handle? Or something else. I am new to your forum so I appolgize for anything I might have done wrong.

It's probably a faulty trim limit switch. To check the system out completely, click on the link below and download the service manual.
Then go to section 1C (Troubleshooting) and follow the instructions for your problem. There are also wiring diagrams.

At least try to adjust the sender before you even think about changing it.
