Trim cylinder rebuild question

The past week or so, I've been working on rebuilding my tilt/trim cylinders. I've managed to complete the disassembly without any major problems. In these photos the slipper seal is not what the manual said I should have. I seem to be missing an O ring at the piston's end and the blue disks should be an O ring also, Can anyone tell me what's happening here? Is this some kind of Merc upgrade? Perhaps an aftermarket part? BTW this is a 1" piston with cylinder number 45194
Thanks, Ed

Re: Trim cylinder rebuild question

Ed, My '77 Merc 1500 PTT had the teflon seal on the piston. They are difficult to reinstall without a special tool. I ended up having mine done by a shop. I do not remove the pistons now, to replace the oring seals around the rods, which usually are the ones to go.

Re: Trim cylinder rebuild question

They were included in the PTT rebuild kit for my '77 Merc 1500. You can try a serial number of 4567890 or so to get the correct kit. I only saw the listing for the 3/4" rod PTT Cylinder repair kit (#64507A1 - $35.99). Dougrussell.com did not have a listing for the 1" rod Cylinder Repair Kit. You an try a dealer or crowleymarine.com
