Trim gauge question

I had new trim limit switch and sender put on my alpha and got the trim gauge to work and was wondering how it is supposed to read. In between down and up there are I think five marks. When I got the gauge to work I had the wife rotate the sender while the lower unit was down and the needle would only go between half and 3/4. Then when I raise it the gauge pegs out when the lower unit gets about half way up. Anything I can do to fix this?

Re: Trim gauge question

I converted my stringer to Alpha a year ago, as I recall, the trim limit is on one side, the trim sender is on the other. The problem may be, that they look identical, and you are trying to use the wrong one.
The limit is strictly on of off, (0 ohms or infinity) and the position sender is variable, (just like a fuel tank sender).
Or, the sender is the wrong resistance range for your gauge.

I see, the trim limit switch works great. I checked and the limit switch port side the sender starboard. It will work the way it is as I just mainly need to know down as I can't here the pump.
