Re: trim gauge stop working

Mike, you can easily find the steps for winterization by doing a search up at the top. It's been posted and pinned many times. As for the trim, you more than likely have a failed trim sending unit (although it is possible that the gauge itself is bad or a broken wire in the boat, the most likely explanation is the sending unit). The good news is that it's a pretty useless gauge anyhow and you can use your boat just as you normally would. You'll hear the change in tune of your trim pump when it bottoms out at the bottom or top and you'll certainly know if you have it trimmed too high when it ventilates.

The bad news is that they can be a bear to change and most folks don't change them until they service the lower unit and change the bellows as you have to remove everything from the rear of the boat to feed the wire for the new sender through. It's definitely a PITA and a "just live with it" sort of thing until you're changing the bellows anyhow.
