Maybe if we knew what the trim was hooked to and a year it would help?
It's a '91 Celebrity 190, Alpha1 (gen2?).
Should I cycle it a few times and see if it settles in?
Pinkish/milky, yes.
I should say, I got this boat for $600 with trailer, and so far all I've had to replace is the starter. Motor spins freely (will try to fire it up later this week), trim motor works, needs a little floor work (maybe 5 square feet), and the exterior needed a good restoration wax to remove oxidation. It's a 22 year old boat but it's in decent shape and is good for the wife, daughter and I to have fun with, without spending $8 grand on something.
So....should I drain the fluid and replace with other fluid? What type of fluid? I have power steering laying around the house, as well as regular oil.
Ayuh,.... That's Atf, 'n Water,....
Ya, change it, 'n try to purge out as much as ya can,...
I'd stick with Atf, as that's what's there now,...
running to NAPA at lunch then!
What do you suggest is the best way to purge it? Disconnect the lines from the sterndrive itself and it it drain out?
Thank you
Okay. will do. She won't see water for at least a few days, unless the motor fires up thursday then I'm water testing it at the dock saturday morning! haha.
Manually lift the drive? how strong do you think I am? lol. I work at a desk all day, I'm not a manual worker like my old man....at least not anymore. I'm just a shadetree mechanic.
