hey there.. 1993 Seaswirl 190se. trim works wonderful but the guage is permanently in the up position. when you turn the key off it drops maybe an 1/8 inch. turn key on and you can see jump that little bit.
Section 13 page 37 of the manual i downloaded shows the wiring schematics.

1. purple wire from key to guage 12v with key on
2. black wire round
3. brown / white wire only 9v with key on. (from trim sender it says)

and then i have blue wires also.... not sure where they come from?

when i hit the button no voltage change at either of the hot leads.

where can i go from here??? im glad everything works just would be nice if the guage did also.

Re: trim guage

There are only two parts in this system. 1) the gauge and 2) the sender. Obviously the wiring between the two is part of the system but rarely is that the problem. Check the sender and the gauge. Check the gauge by shorting the "S" (sender) terminal to ground. The gauge should peg high. If not, it's toast. Use an ohm meter to verify operation of the sender. Manually operate the sender and watch the resistance change. Smooth operation with no "open" indications means the sender is ok.

Re: trim guage

found the problem..... figured it ws a guage problem so started at the front when should have started in the back... wires are pulled out of the trim sender. looks like i should be able to solder new pig tail on and silicone around it for a quick fix for now. thanks for the help.
