Trim Intermittent Problem

I have a 22'8" Chris Craft with a 5.7 OMC Cobra.<br />The power trim does not work when under way.<br />It goes up and down fine when stopped.<br />The problem started at the end of last season. It's the only repair/problem I know of that needs fixed before this season gets underway.<br />The hydraulic fluid is fine.<br />Any suggestions?

If the drive stays up and does not leak down "any", and stays down while reversing using heavy throttle, it is probably a weak pump. Should be replaced.

Before I went to the expense of replacing the trim motor I'd make sure what was wrong and not start guessing. Make sure the power is getting to the pump while underway, it could just be a bad connection. Last season I had a problem with the trim that would only show up from time to time. I traced it down to a bad connection where the wires in the switch connected to the handle.
