I just put one in the 1979 mercrusier 260 with 350 Chev. As the battery is out of the boat I don't know if it's hooked up right or not. All 4 wires on the replacement are just the same, black. I got the starboard & port senders going to the right place, don't see how I could screw that up, but I'm not sure they are hooked up right after that, only two choices. Does it make any difference?
And as bare as the old wires were it seems to me there should be a blown fuse somewhere. Is that a good bet?

Re: Trim kit installation.

Okay you turkeys, I'm gonna' put the battery in on friday so if it burns to the ground it's gonna' be you alls fault. I'm also gonna' put the Dextron 3 in my power steering unit. Not only that I'm gonna' eat some worms if I don't get me no response. What happened to Bondo & Lube Dude, did I pee you off? Jeeze, I thought I would have heard from somebody by now. If so, my apologies, Sp?. Am I gonna' have to call me local dealer & pester them too? Not only that, it ain't easy to shove the outdrive back in either is it? I got it suspended from my engine hoist, I'm a mechanic, but it ain't goin in to fast. I keep tearing my gasket. I know, I need help for that to begin with. Helps gonna' be here Thursday as I want to do the test run Saturday. Thanks in advance to anyone brave enough to responed. BinLurkin.

Thanks Bondo, your really fast. Not only that it must be 10:45 pm back there.

Cool on the senders, that's about what I thought. On my 1978 Silverline it's tossed, have to pull the engine it looks like pending further examination. The local dealer cut the wires off when I asked him to fix them, & I was gonna pay him to do it. Must be a lot of work.

I missed your dexron reply, sorry, I'm getting old here.

Since you most graciously sp? answered all my questions you don't have to pay nothing to see anything. I'll keep the worms on ice at this point.

Yeah, I did the alignment thing & it seemed to be perfect. The washer gizmo was perfectly flat but the washer was not on center. It had more over to one side that the other. Eccentric. The manuals don't say anything about that. What do you think? I think it not a concern.

Thanks for the ram tip.

All we got going on here in Monterey now is a real hot Salmon bite when the wind dies down. I live right behind a sand dune here & get the full brunt.

Re: Trim kit installation.

Hey Bondo!

Binlurkin - let me apologize for the temporary thread hijack..... :D

I'll be catching (hopefully) Walleye on Lake Ontario Tomorrow and Friday! Me and a few buds are going up on a charter boat for a couple days. Somewhere near Oswego, about 20-30 minutes away I think. I'm actually not too sure exactly where or which charter, my friends set it up and I just paid my share. Leaving here (NJ) tomorrow morning at 4:30AM, hope to be on the water by noon or 1:00pm. Any tips from the locals??? :)

Bondo,

Well, guess where we were staying? Henderson Bay. We went out with Tim, from "lots-a-limits". Did bad. A few pike, and 1 walleye that didn't make it into the boat. Fishing was very very slow. Was the weather up there everyone was saying.

We fished a bunch of spots, the fish just weren't there or weren't interested.

I didn't realize until I got back and read this that I was in your back yard. If I end up going up there again I'll shoot you a message, maybe I'll buy you a few beers for all the help you've been with my boat over the winter.
I really wish I would have known where I was going before I went! :)

OK Bondo, you're on! Next time I'm up in Henderson Harbor I'll let you know. Honestly, I myself can't see paying as much as we did to go out on a charter again, if anything I'd drag my boat up there for a long weekend or something. The four of us paid almost $1000 total for the 2 days of fishing and the overnight stay. As long as we're staying in the harbor and the bays I think my 19 footer would do fine. Hell, these past 2 days my buddie's 17 foor tracker would have done fine! Thursday I could have been in a damn Canoe!!! I'm sure it gets a lot worse though when it wants to.

Tim from lots a limits was a great guy, really moved us around everywhere to try to get those damn eyes, but they weren't interested. Gotta give him credit, he ran a nice operation there and was a nice guy to boot.

I went out yesterday evening.........
Black River Bay... Sackets Harbor to Bull Rock Point.........
The graph was Covered with Fish............
Nada... Zero.. Zip.....
Not even a Smallie... Sheepie... Nothing.....
And,
You Diffinitely did Not want to be in a Canoe........
An Old Fishing Buddy,+ his friend showed up at my door about 4pm, from Delaware,+ we hooked up to the boat + Went.....
By near dark, my Old Bud was Chumming......... :D
I pulled in,+ we headed for the Trailer........

Normally,
You'd be Reasonably Comfortable in Your Boat.....

Re: Trim kit installation.

OK, I don't feel so bad now. :)

Went out down here Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we hooked a bunch of mid-size blues, about 6-10 pounds. Yesterday I went out with the wife. Had a couple fish on that let go, then I hooked this monster, I could barely keep the tip of the pole out of the water! By the time my brain told me to loosen the drag the bum snapped my line (30 pound line!) at the swivel, lost my sinker, rig, bait, and the damn monster fish to boot! Depressed, sun going down, I headed in. At least I had a witness to the fight!! :)
