I just had a new rebuilt Chev 262 86-95 4.3lt V6 motor installed but they didnt connect the trim sensor and the trim limit wires.

I have found where the trim Sensor wires go and the gauge is working.

Can anyone tell me where the trim limt wires connect to?

Re: trim limit wires

Hi Mark,

Ignore them ^^^ (they're getting cranky in their old age :D)

I have been following your thread about this engine with interest, and it certainly sounds like you got screwed over... Shame, if you was in "Waussie" I could have helped you...

Ok, the trim switch wires are a pair of black figure 8s with bullet connectors on the ends. They come through the transom housing in the middle, just bellow the water inlet. The pair for the trim limit connect to a couple of bullets in the trim pump harness. The colour wires you're looking for are a purple/wht and a connector with 2 blu/wht wires in it. The polarity of the wires is unimportant.

Re: trim limit wires

Thanks Achris

Great to see an aussie has some sympathy. I became a boat owner 12 months ago and as I have said on many of my post I have spent $$$$$$$ on this boat and have learnt a lot because of it, as the mechanics over here in Sydney just want to take my $$$$$

They tell me nothing but BS and all I ask is for a little bit of information and sypmathy and all I get is attitude here as well. Only Jokng, you guys have given me alot of good advice here, and I do appreciate it, I am slowly becoming a marine mechanic -NOT

Thanks Achris
for your info I will go home tonight and see if I can fix the Trimt Limit.

Yes the Audio Alarm is working, Which I have never heard before, funny I got the boat rewired by the same mechanic in Feb of last year, and I have never heard that alarm when you turn the ignition on.

Another weird question, when I am stopped the trim gauge works well, when I am under way, on the plan etc Trim gauge wont register at all, but when I slow down to as top it works again...any Ideas?

Turn the helm hard to port and have a good look at the wires from the sender port side of the gimbal ring). I wouldn't mind betting they are damaged.

Re: trim limit wires

All you need is a ohm meter and a book,The limit switch wires connect to the two wires at the trim pump with the bullet connectors.
