My issue is the sudden failure of the trim control. This is on a 2008 90hp Yamaha engine. The marine center sent a tech to my lake and he said it was a trim motor that was bad and they would replace it when the boat goes in for winter storage. Since that visit, there have been episodes of static on a simple AM/FM radio, but the radio is not turned on. I had to unplug the power to the radio, any thoughts?

A failed or failing electric motor will introduce all kinds of noise into the circuitry.

Does it only happen when operating trim? If not, I suspect the diagnosis is flawed.

Suspect you have a ground loop in the system. Typically short to ground. Real bear to find.

Got lucky when my bilge pump took a dump. Bilge Active light at helm was illuminated with no power to the bilge pump, or so I thought.
