trim motor not working

I have a mrcury 40 hp 2003 with a two wire trim motor. The trim has always worked flawlessly and suddenly while on the trailer it stopped working. The solenoids are clicking and I have 12 volts coming to the motor while trim switch is pressed. The motor does nothing. I am guessing a bad ground possibly, although I have checked most of them and have cleaned and reattached if needed. If I run a hot lead to the blue or green wire directly will the motor run or does it have to be grounded. Thanks!

Yup,
A motor test is in order here. There should be a lug on the motor, That's your positive side. And yes, you will need to ground the casing.

My trim motor does not have a lug both wires green and blue go inside motor, my question is if I run a hot lead to either the green or blue wire must I ground the other wire ie.. hot lead to green and groung the blue?
