Trim motor replacement- 1999 2 stroke, 225 hp , OPTIMAX

I have a 1999 225 hp optimax outboard with a trim motor issue. I need to replace it. I have been reading here that you have to take off the transom bracket to get to it, but from the looks of things, it seems that I could remove the center piston/pump , drop it down, get access to the trim motor, remove the 2 hex head bolts that hold the trim motor in place and replace it with a new one......
Im looking for some feedback. Does anyone think this will work ? let me know, otherwise, i'm going to be $ 2,000 in the hole at the local marina....
