Trim Motor requires a good smack to work sometimes.

Trim motor rebuild? or replace the brushes? I'm just dropping so much $ on this this, i want to be sure before I start shotgunning parts.

Hard to say not being there. However, before jumping into a rebuild, first try and clean up the wire connections and see if that helps first. If not then it may be time to rebuild the trim motor. But make certain if you have a trim motor relay, that that is working properly too. Some have such a setup and others don't. JMHO!

brushes are probably like new in there, as a trim motor works so intermittently.
one can usually disassemble the motor, take some fine emery or crocus cloth to the commutator bars and then clean the strips between the bars with a seal pick or sharp knife tip and make it work like new again
