I have a 2000 150 h.p. Johnson, the o-ring at the trim piston is leaking.. My question is, could this simply be one o-ring leaking making it an easy fix? I went to the local dealer and he showed me a bag with many O-rings.I would appreciate any advice before purchasing the cap tool. Thank you Andy

Go to shop.evinrude.com, look up you motor and you'll see what's needed for the trim piston.

Sounds like one or two of the orings in the cylinder, including the one that sits in the cap that the piston runs inside of

I had a weeping oil leak at one of the two trim cyl caps on my 79 85 hp. Got a spanner wrench and removed it. Put in a new seal and wiper. That took care of it. Pretty simple, actually. OMC sold individual seal parts for that unit. Yours has that same type cap. So the question is, do you want to pay $80 for a whole seal kit for 2 seal parts, or buy a replacement cap complete for $ 120. A spanner wrench is cheap at any auto parts store.
