Trim Position Sending Unit Mercury 115

My 88 bass boat came with a trim gauge, since I have owned the boat the gauge has never worked. This weekend I set out to find out why. After beating my head against the wall for hours I came to the conclusion that the trim position sending unit is missing. Or I am overlooking it. I know where the sending unit should be, however can not find it. Does anybody have a picture of what this unit looks like, or can point me in the right direction as to where I find it? Engine is a Mercury 115 88.
