OK, the engine is running!!! the distributor wasn't quite turned right and the wires weren't correct on the kill switch. Now, the trim will not work. Once I had everything hooked up and the engine running (today), I hit the trim switch to try and lower the outdrive and I heard a noise like it was trying to work, then nothing. Now, everytime I hit either the up or down button, all I hear is a click back where all the wires from the trim connect to whatever those things are they connect to. I've come so far, yet as soon as I fix one problem, another one pops up. What do I do now???!!!

Check the main inline fuse for the trim motor. The clicking sound is made by the relays, if the motor is not turning then the fuse to the trim motor (usually connected between the relays and the battery) is probably faulty or blown.

What model and year motor is it?

Every model different.

Is it a OMC stringer drive?

It could also be a bad ground. I don't have relays on my particular power trim unit. I hooked everything up to the side post on my battery and went to use the power trim and it worked fine for a minute today then it went to just barely working. I took every thing off of the side post and added my battery cable ends to the top post and mounted the wires to it and everything worked fine. My heart stopped when the trim motor acted like it did because I thought the motor was bad and I didn't even get to use it in the water yet. If you have been dealing with the wires check the ground, if the relays are kicking in and out it may not being getting a full ground. Or at worst case you may have a burnt wire. You could take a voltage meter to it.
