Hey,

I have an 82 Renken with a 120 Mercrusier I/O and the trim system has caused me problems since day 2 of owning the boat. The outdrive will raise always immediately, but not always go back down. When i had the out drive rebuilt, I found bad trim wires all the way back. I replaced the wires and it worked. Now the trim motor runs fine but the outdrive will not go down. any ideas?

Re: trim problems

Determine which is the up line on one of your trim cylinders.Be sure your reservoir is completely full.May want to put a pan underneth to catch oil when you crack open the line.Raise drive all the way up.Now crack open the up line on one of your cyls. just enough to make the drive start to fall slowly. At the same time have someone hold the trim switch in the down position. When about halfway down tighten the line and let off switch.Refill your reservoir to the top.Crack open the line again and hold switch in down position again. When down tighten line and let off switch. Now run up and down a few times to finish the bleeding process.Be sure to never let the reservoir go dry!
