Trim pump oil

Ok I recently installed my freshened up bravo one drive, trim Rams. While operating the trim pump and putting some more 30w oil in it I had noticed that the oil in the reservoir was actually looking like coffee with creamer in it. Now could this be from the Rams being off of the boat all winter and it's just a bit of rust built up? I'm assuming I should pull the pump, clean it out, take the hoses off of the Rams and clean them out too?

Was there water in the old fluid in the system?

That's what my trim pump fluid looked like when I had water in it. (The creamer part, that is.)

I guess it could have had water in it. I just left the lines exposed throughout the winter so water could have possibly gotten in there. Looks like it's time to pull the pump& lines and clean them out and start over....

Ok I just took the Rams off, disconnected the lines from the rams, pulled & pushed on the Rams to bleed all the fluid out of them. I even blew compressed air into them to bleed them that way. I then reinstalled the lines, reinstalled the Rams themselves, filled the tank up with 30w oil operated the pump all the way up and diwn s few times to be able to prime it up and noticed that just after going this that the oil still had a little bit of that coffee look, but it does go away after it sits for a bit. My question is will running it like this with just a little bit of water in the libes ruin anything or should I start over and this time go and pull the trim pump motor and clean it out that way?

You definitely don't want any water in the system. It corrodes things up pretty bad. However you may get some foam after refilling from scratch. If you run it again after sitting does the "coffee" come back?

When my system had water in it, it required two complete purge-and-refill cycles to get the water out. If you're getting the milky stuff, you need to purge again.
