So I have a trim pump that is not working. This is from a 1981 Glastron SSV-177 that I purchased as a project several years ago. The trim system never worked since I've owned the boat and I believe its been sitting for quite some time, either well covered or in a garage. I have the in handle control and the two solenoid system. Solenoid and wiring all checks out ok. The motor itself seems to be seized up.
I've removed the entire assembly from the boat and removed the solenoids and drained the fluid reservoir. Opened the reservoir and I verified that the motor shaft is seized. The hydraulic pump shaft when decoupled from the motor shaft spins freely. Ok... its a bad motor. Has anyone had success rebuilding the motors? Does anyone know how to get the motor off of the reservoir? I dont really see how it comes apart but it was late last night when I was looking at it.
Most likely there is a bearing in there that had some moisture on it and seized up so I feel like I am better off just getting a replacement pump. Just curious to see what anyone else has tried on these pumps. Most issues with the systems seem to be the solenoids but that is not the case here.
Thanks,
Ethan
