I recently replaced my 1999 40HP 2-stroke (Model# C40TLRX) motor with a 2004 50HP 2-stroke (Model# 50TLRC).
I have a Yamaha Multi-Function Tach (part# 6Y5-8350T-82). I bought the tach and harness on eBay, it did not come with the motor and I believe it is newer than the motor because it has the DIP switches inside the tach housing under a rubber plug. The 2004 motor has a 2-wire trim sender, the 1999 motor has a 3-wire sender. The tach harness has a plug that fits the 3-wire sender on the 1999 motor. There was an adapter included with the tach harness that I believe was used to adapt the 2-wire trim sender to the 3-wire plug on the harness, but I have misplaced it and can't be sure.
Is there in fact an adapter made to adapt the 2-wire trim sender to the 3-wire plug that will enable me to use my tach and harness? If so, I would appreciate it if someone could tell me the part number.
Thanks,
Larry
