Trim sender set too high (27")

I noticed that the drive seemed to trim up higher than normal on the trailer. I checked it and sure enough for some reason the ram is 27" and it is supposed to be no more than 20 3/4". I trim by sound so I don't think I trimmed to too high while under way. Thoughts on whether I should be concerned about damage from it being trimmed up this high. This is the warning in the manual:

"Trim limit switch MUST BE adjusted exactly as outlined. If switch is adjusted incor-
rectly, drive unit could move out beyond the gimbal ring support flanges and cause
damage to sterndrive unit."

I will set it properly but looking for advice on the gimble - should I check something before I run it again?

running it at power outside if the flanges can/will twist outdrive off the transom housing.

Make sure the pivot bolts under the switch are tight.

Thank-you for the info. I will check the pivot bolts. I do not run the motor when the drive is trimmed for the trailer so it sounds like I should be ok.

Just trying to find the torque setting online. Seems to be a few numbers floating around. Is is 95 ft/Ibs with a 1/2" allen key?

Different numbers for different drive. What drive (and year) do you have?

It is not a Gen 2. It is a 1990 with the straight up and down skeg, no through bolts, trim on back on rear extension etc.
