Trim Sender switch question

1987 Alpha one drive. 2008 GM 350 5.7l. When the new engine goes in, I will be missing one thing, a place to hook up the trim sending switch. On the original 1987 Mercrioer the wires were going to a pre-solenoid. This engine has no such thing. Is there a way to wire the switch directly to the instrument.
Thanks Roman

Re: Trim Sender switch question

Please explain 'pre-solenoid'.... On all Mercruisers (since 1966) the wires from the trim sender go directly to the gauge.

You almost missed me. Got some work offered in Vietnam, but the deal sounded too shady in the e-mails, so I told them I was unavailable... :D:D

I really was in Malaysia... Honest....

Sorry, this doesn't relate to your question, I just have one of my own. Are you keeping the original cooling set up through the alpha? Or does your new engine have an engine mounted raw water pump?

Re: Trim Sender switch question

I am keeping the original set-up through the Alpha Outdrive.

Question about the trim sender switch. I am assuming correctly that the sender switch goes through the wiring harness to the instrument panel. Thanks Roman

If not, is there a way to hook up sender directly to the instrument.
Thanks
