This is a video of a resistance test on the Trim Sender Output wire at the gauge, to ground. I also tested at the Sending unit itself, but forgot to record the video. It doesn't matter though cause the readings were the same. It looks to jumpy to me, BUT it does seem to kinda work. HOWEVER when the gauge is hooked up, it either reads FULL TILT, or at the number "2", depending on its mood that day lol =o). What do you professionals think? Does this unit look to be bad? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Yep it's bad, an analog meter works best for showing the dead spots, can you feel the scratchiness while turning the shaft? eventually water penetration corrodes the point and windings.

It can feel smooth but the issue is with corrosion inside the sender. I had the same problem so I replaced my sender and it fixed the issue.

ok, thanks guys but going by the video, can anyone confirm or deny that the sender is faulty by looking at the resistance measurements?

O to 200 ohms looks about right for the swing of the meter. It doesn't take much to deflect the gauge.

Yes I realize that... But I'm concerned with the sparattic jumping as the arm is pressed down. It seems like it goes from 100 down to about 30, but it keeps jumping in the 100's+ during this process. That tells me something is wrong. Am I correct

Yes you have a bad sender. Shouldn't jump around like that.
Good Luck Muc
