i finished putting the bellows on and for some reason when i torqued the hinged pins on i decided to check the trim sensors. i opened up the starboard side (first picture)and i noticed the white plastic piece broken i take it it's toast, then i opened the port side(second picture) and it looked good but different i know they do two things
my question is can i replace the sensor with out pulling the bell housing off PLEASE don't tell me i have to pull the bell housing off? and has anybody had success splicing them

Re: trim sensor I-R gimbal housing question

I have a spanner I heated up and put a 90 degree bend in to be able to remove the bolts holding the plate onto the transom assembly. That would be the only reason to remove the bell housing. If you can undo and do up the retainer plate bolt, go for it...

As long as the wire is clean and will solder easily I see not reason that splicing wouldn't work...

you learn from your mistakes!! i should of checked before i put the bell housing back they were working before i tore everthing apart i must of broke the starboard side banging things around. i'm going to try to splice a new sensor on i will make sure the splice is also water proof. i'm glad no kids where standing around me for the swearing man oh man
