trim solenoid?

ok, I posted about 1 week ago about the trim system on my 78 johnson 150. I've recently picked up a manual and hung the engine back on the boat and actually gotten the trim system bled out to the point that its working quite well. now the task at hand is wiring everything back together. when I received the boat I had three wires coming out of the trim motor laying on the back of the boat and three wires coming from the handle/switch assembly. there were sliced wires and bad splices throughout but neither piece was connected to anything. the wiring diagram in the manual that I purchased shows some type of bar or bus or connector strip or something and a solenoid. I need to know where these pieces are or should be. thanks in advance for any help. if it helps, the boat is a 1982 ranger with a 1978 johnson seahorse 150.

its not really a diagram that I need at this point. I have a somewhat understandable diagram. I need to know where the parts are or where they should be. this is a project boat that I got free from my fathers neighbor. It has been HACKED. I have already gotten rid of tons of wire from old radios and speakers and just crap that should have never been there. I feel like I'm missing some pretty important pieces to this system but I don't know where to look. I have six bare wires and nowhere to put them. I can't find a solenoid, or connector or anything that might even resemble it. thanks for the name though. I will try to contact him for a better explanation.

my old venture bass boat with '79 115 johnson and most of the others ive worked on has a little control box on the starboard side inside the rear compartment.....it even has a wiring diagram on the lid. ill try to see if i can post some pics....mine is a black box with thumb screw keepers.

when i bought my boat EVERY wire had about a foot gone......maybe one of the previous owners had an enemy or a ****** ex.

and yes ezeke knows his stuff he walked me through an upgrade for my charging.....putting a newer water cooled regulator to replace my rectifier

I'll give it a try but, it may be difficult without a diagram. Your going to need a up and a down solenoid. The 3 wires from the handle are green(up), red(power), and blue(down). The switch at the handle puts power(red) to the green/blue wires. Connect the blue wire to a small post on one solenoid and green wire to small post on the other, ground the other small post(s). The trim motor take the big blue wire and connect it to the little blue wire solenoid BUT on the BIG post....and the same for the big green wire to little green solenoid BIG post. The other big post on the solenoid(s) need constant power fron the starter solenoid.... the small red wire (trim switch) should get fused power here also......clear as mud?

i believe blue--up...and green--down
maybe just a typo?

The three wire motor had only one solenoid which gave more power for lifting the motor. Lowering the motor used power directly through.

Its easier to read the diagram with the gauge not showing, so I will try to clean up a second chart.
