Trim Switch on Throttle Control

I'm fairly new to boating and new to this forum. I have a 1991 Mercury V150 6 cyl. 2 stroke with a Quicksilver Commander 2000 side mount control. I am having a problem with my trim switch on the throttle handle. A couple of weeks ago the trim up stopped working. The trim down is working fine. When I use the trim switch on the motor itself it works in both up and down. I purchased a new throttle arm trim switch and installed it yesterday. The trim up still will not work. I was looking for a wiring schematic for the trim switch to the motor which I haven't found yet. I was also considering puting in a SPDT switch on the dash or side panel and wiring it directly to the motor which might be the easier thing to do. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? Thanks in advance!

First place I would look is the connector at the trip pump. Here is the wiring

AllDodge... thanks for the diagram. If there was a problem with the connection at the trim motor, wouldn't it stand to reason that the trim up wouldn't work with the switch on the engine? The wires coming from the engine switch and the wires coming from the throttle switch are connected together prior to the relays. From looking at the diagram I am thinking that there is a broken wire or loose connection somewhere in the wiring harness between the throttle and the engine.

The diagram shows the connections but not necessarily how they are connected. That said, if you look at the drawing, it shows a connector (5 pins) between the throttle control and the motor. That connector may be where the issue is, don't know, would need to look for my self

My guess is that the blue/white wire ("up") inside the throttle arm / control is broken.

I tried to pull the connector apart yesterday. Very difficult. I'm afraid to pull too hard just in case my hand slips and pulls a wire out. Going to try again today. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

Ajgraz....I replaced the throttle switch yesterday with a brand new switch. If I get the connector apart I am hopeful I will find the problem.

My connector went bad on one connection many years ago. Got the connector apart and it looked fine, but after checking continuity the issue was found.
