Hello,
I have a Glastron that I can not move the out drive up or down, I have tested the trim motor and it seems to be fine. I think it is the trim switch, when i press it up it makes a click and when pressing down it make no noise. Does anyone know what size the bolt is to remove the throttle handle? is there a technique to removing it? Does the whole handle have to be replaced? I believe it is a Quicksilver 4000 series.

The whole handle should not need to come off. On my Alumacraft there are 1 or 2 screws that hold a faceplate on.....take those out and you can get to trim switch. Mine did the same thing last year. Easy fix

The click would indicate that the switch is sending the required up signal to the solenoid. The down signal may not cause a click if you have an early trim model that has only one solenoid. They are usually easy to recognize. Do you know what model you have or what year it was made? - Grandad

I'll have to check the model number It's on a 2006. The click is at the handle itself not at the motor, I don't think I ever remember a click at the handle. I Have noticed an issue for a couple years, having to romance the trim button to get it to raise sometimes. The two little screws on the handle are facing the bulkhead, so I really cannot get to them, also I cannot seem to get a good hold on the bolt that is holding the handle on, if it's an 18mm, 7/8 etc...

My trim switch in the throttle handle did the same thing.....audible Clik when pushed up and nothing when pushed down. New switch off eBay was @$7.
Fixed! I hope yours is as simple

This will help with the handle removal, http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engin...erc-controller

The switch should be item number 3, SWITCH/HARNESS ASSEMBLY, Trailering (#87-858679T 1) fits Mercruiser

If you can, look behind the side panel for the wiring to ensure it's all plugged in and not corroded out at/inside the wire connector plug. Keep in mind that the switch should be a double throw switch in the up position. First click is trim up while the second click is trailer mode. There are fuses at the trim pump so be sure to check them both as well. Yours possibly will resemble items 4 and 15,https://www.perfprotech.com/mercury-...160?model=1016
