Please look at my trim tab below, I know its supposed to be there to help adjust steering forces, and I am wondering if the placement of mine is hurting my steering.

If I am at a stop, and I hold the wheel strait on, and I floor it (yea i know that a car term but whatever =o)) the boat rises and tries its hardest to go left. I really have to fight it to stay strait until I get on plain. Would this be a reason? Any and all information, (I love details) would really be appreciated!

Thanks guys

Re: Trim Tab Help Please

i'd think that adj. would cause problems of any kind.

put it stright with the world, fore and aft. then adj. per this after ya try it and see what it does.....

edit,
if it's adj. that way so the prop wont hit it. take the grinder to it like this...

the grinding adj. is actually in one of the mercruiser service manuals i've read. so if the prop hit, it is an appropriate adj. to grind off some of the tab...

2nd edit.
looks like yer tab is painted too. it's a sacrificial anode. a zinc... it's not supposed to be painted or the sacrificial anode part won't work..

With the way that tab is turned, you should be pulling hard to the right once you get going. Should have thet tab over to the other side, JUST A LITTLE bit and see what it does.

actually it doesnt pull at all except while getting on plain. Once its on top of the water, you can steer it strait, and let go of the wheel, and it stays pretty strait

.....and shouldn't ya' scrape all that paint off the trim tab so that the anode can do its job ??
And it won't be too long before that prop needs some repairing !!!

It's an OMC, not a Merc. It's not an anode.
