Trim Tab Help

Hi there,

So I bought my 1988 Cooper Prowler last year and have now started having issues with my trim tabs.
When I engage either side down, I can hear the pump. When I switch up, nothing. Now I believe that these are spring retracting tabs, so no noise makes sense. But I am pretty sure that the tabs are not going down. I don't want to take it out of the water right now, right at the start of the season.

I guess my first question is: anyone recognize this pump? There are no brand markings at all. The switch (both stations) has a logo, a "T" with a line on each side of it (sorry, forgot to take a picture).
Second question is how to "unlock" them so they go down?

Since they're up, I'm not in too much of a panic but I hate having something non-functional on board.

Thanks!

Did you check the fluid level? I've seen alot of pumps but never seen one like that.

Sounds like you have a bad pump solenoid.

Tabs are spring loaded up to allow you to retract a failed cylinder by disconnecting the hydraulic line from the cylinder. The pump still needs to run to retract the tab

Okay, that lines up with what I've been reading. To qualify, you're saying that I should still hear the pump when the tabs go up?
Second question: since I have no idea what this pump is (or the system as a whole), can I just replace the pump or do I need to replace the actuators too?

Pump motor runs going both down and up.

Can't be much wrong with the pump if it moves in one direction and not the other. I would tear it down to inspect before I did anything

The only issue swapping out pumps is to match the hydraulic fittings which shouldn't be hard to do. My Bennett tabs use a standard tubing size.
