Trim Tab Wiring

The trim tabs (Bennet) on my boat are wired backwards.
The left button operates the port tab (controling the starbord bow) and vica versa for the right button.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram (including color codes) so I can determine if the wiring is wrong or maybe the hydraulic lines are backwards.

Would rather change the wiring to correct the problem.......

If I am not mistaken they are wired correctly. Think about it . If the boat is listing to the right and you want to level it than you need to lower the left side by going down with the right tab but you would push the left botton down.

My error, I didn't read Tony's post correctly, they are wired backwards.

If you think these posts are confusing..............try adjusting the list of the boat when it's working backwards....I have to think about it too much!!

I have a feeling the wiring is ok now that I think about it, but will check anyway. Might be just as simple/easy to switch the hoses...........

I like the Bennett's joy stick control rather than the switches. Sort of like flying a plane.

Re: Trim Tab Wiring

The difficult thing for most people is if they are wired correctly the up/down of the bow is opposite to the drive or O/B trim controls. I am used to them now. It has always been easiest for me to think of the rocker switches "pushing" the bow down by pushing the switch forward, or "pushing" the stern down by pushing the switch back. I can see how the joystick would help that thought process although I have never used one . . .

My brother in law just got a used Doral I/O with trim tabs. Neither of us had used them before. He went out with the family on the first trip out. I stayed at camp. When he got back he was white as a ghost and the rest of the family didn't look so good. I asked what happened. He said the boat almost tipped over when he tried the trim tabs and tossed the passengers around the boat. He was at speed. So he took me out without the family and we tried the tabs. Something was not as we thought it should be with the tabs. We took the boat out and worked the tabs and found this exact thing. When we pushed the right top buttom the left tab moved up as I remember. I tried that link above but it doesn't work. He will have to rethink their operation, brain rewire needed...

The link works now. Not sure why, but when using a name instead of the link to a pdf, it doesn't seem to work.
